This is the title of the book that I love to read to Elizabeth everynight before bed. It is a very simple story that has been loved for over 50 years! The words are very catchy and the pictures are wonderful. I have read this book to her so many times that I am starting to memorize it and I am sure there are mom's that already have ot memorized. There are a few lines from the book that are my favorite and I would like to share them with you:
"Goodnight comb and goodnight brush, goodnight nobody, goodnight mush" "and goodnight to the old lady whispering hush" "good night stars, goodnight air, goodnight noises everywhere"
I believe this book is awesome and I would seriously recomend it to anyone. It is not just the simple story and rhymes that get me...I also love the fact that their is a little mouse that appears in different places in each page and the moon is at a different level in the sky. There is also so much for her to learn from the book as she gets older that is just amazing...here is something I found about the different activities you can do with this book:
Activities to do with Goodnight Moon:
- Use this book to talk about things that happen at night: look at the moon everynight and talk about its shape and where it is in the sky.
- Use the book to tal about shadows: On a moonlit night walk outside and look at the moon and take a moonlit walk, while looking at and taking about shadows.
- Use this book to talk about nighttime routines and goodbyes: say goodnight to object and friends in your child's room. Carry your child around the room, nameing different objects as you go. Also when you are getting ready to leave a place have your child say goodbye to their favorite things.
- Use this book to talk about rhyme: Pause before you get to the second line of a rhyming pair. Point to it with your finger, and then start to say the first sound. This will give your child the chance to say the word. You can also do this with rhyming woods in the book such as: house, mouse; balloon, moon; bears, chairs; kittens, mittens; hush, brush, mush; clocks, socks.

Ok, delete that last comment. Stupid copy/paste.
Anyway...
We have Goodnight moon. I love that book. I really remember reading it to my little sister for the first time when she was a toddler. She is almost 17 years old now.
I think of Lauren every time I read it to Annie. Lauren would always yell, "Goodnight nobody!" and then let out the biggest belly laugh ever. Sweet memories.
Tis is what we read to Cale before naps and bed too. Actually all the boys until they wanted variety. LOVE it!

I seen in a catalog where they have a game to go along with the book, I might have to get that for him sometime.
